2008-2009 Scholarship Application

Undergraduate Student Scholarships:

The College of Human Environmental Sciences awards generous general and departmental scholarships to undergraduates each year.  For these general and department scholarships, applications are available in December and are due in January of each year.  These scholarships are awarded and presented during the Celebration of Excellence awards banquet April 18, 2008.  Scholarship funds will be deposited into the recipient’s OSU Bursar’s account each semester of the academic year and will appear as a credit on their university bill. 

Scholarship recipients must be currently enrolled and majoring in a degree program in the College of Human Environmental Sciences on the OSU Stillwater campus. Recipients must be enrolled as a full time student (12 hours or more; seniors enrolled in 9 hours or more in their graduating semester are considered full time) during the period of the scholarship award.  If you are awarded a departmental scholarship, you MUST be a student in that department and/or major prior to disbursement of the scholarship.  Criteria varies for each scholarship, but usually includes GPA, college and university activities, leadership potential, future goals, etc.

Instructions for completing the 2008 – 2009 Undergraduate Scholarship Application:

  • Select and open the CHES 2008 – 2009 Undergraduate Scholarship application (the application time is over).
  • CHES International Program/Study Abroad Experience Scholarship Application
  • Complete the on-line form and print 5 original applications.
  • Sign all 5 forms.
  • Attach the following documents to the application form:
    • Official transcript which includes fall 2007 grades to all five applications.  Copies of transcripts will not be accepted.  Transcripts are available in the Office of the Registrar – Transcripts, 324 Student Union.
Submit application materials to:  Associate Dean – Academic Programs and Services, College of Human Environmental Sciences, 101 HES, Oklahoma State University, Stillwater, OK  74078-6113 before 4:00 p.m. Friday, January 11, 2008.  No late applications will be accepted.

Graduate Student Scholarships:

Each year the College of Human Environmental Sciences awards multiple fellowships and scholarships to graduate students.  Awards range from $400 to $5,000 and will be presented during the Celebration of Excellence awards banquet on April 18, 2008.  All recipients and their families are invited to attend.
Fellowship/scholarship recipients must be majoring in a graduate degree program in the College of Human Environmental Sciences and enrolled in a minimum of six credit hours during the semester of the fellowship/scholarship.  At the M.S. level a fellowship/scholarship can be awarded for no more than two years, while at the Ph.D. level a fellowship/scholarship can be awarded for no more than three years.  Criteria vary for each fellowship/scholarship, but usually include scholastic record (GPA), college and university leadership activities, professional goals, etc.

  • Select three persons to complete a CHES Graduate Fellowship & Scholarship “Applicant Recommendation Form" to evaluate your abilities and academic performance.
    • Select references who have knowledge of your educational qualifications, experience, ability to complete advanced study, and professional contributions.  If employed, one reference should be from your job.  Recent contact with theses persons is important.
    • Completed applicant recommendation forms must be received by Friday, January 11, 2008.
  • Download the CHES Graduate Fellowship & Scholarship Application Form.
    • Select SAVE and save the file to a location of your choice.
    • Once saved, open the file and complete the blanks on the form.
  • Print one copy of the completed application form and sign.
  • Attach the following documents to the application form:
    • Transcripts of all undergraduate and graduate work (need not be official, but must be complete)
    • One-page statement of Educational Background
    • One-page statement of Professional Goals & Experiences
    • Curriculum vitae
  • Submit application materials to:  Associate Dean - Research and Graduate Studies, College of Human Environmental Sciences, 139 HES, Oklahoma State University, Stillwater, OK  74078-6113 before 4:30 p.m. Friday, January 11, 2008.
