Carly Rush and Steve Smith of KBEZ-FM radio in Tulsa look on. Trans-Siberian Orchestra concerts benefit Rise School of Stillwater The Rise School of Stillwater recently received $15,420 from the Trans-Siberian Orchestra to benefit the school’s  music therapy program.  The Trans-Siberian Orchestra selects charities in each community to receive a portion of each concert’s ticket sales. The group selected the Rise School to receive the gift from performances in Oklahoma City and Tulsa. “We appreciate the generosity of the Trans-Siberian Orchestra, Stone City Attractions and KBEZ-FM,” said school director Rachel Stallings. “Their gift will allow us to expand our music therapy program and purchase needed materials for our children.” Music therapist Robbin Buford travels from Enid to the school twice a week to provide therapy to approximately 20 students enrolled in the school. The only music therapist in Oklahoma who provides services in a school setting, Buford said the gift will make a difference for each child. She uses music to improve social and motor skills as well as develop musical talent. The Rise School of Stillwater opened in the fall of 2007 to provide a unique early childhood education experience for children from 18 months to four years. Children with developmental disabilities and children without disabilities attend classes together providing an inclusive educational program that fosters acceptance and understanding. It is the seventh Rise School in the nation.
