The School of Hotel and Restaurant Administration at Oklahoma State University inducted American Hotel & Lodging Association Chairman Joe Martin and his wife Pam into the Hospitality Hall of Fame .

(February 19, 2009 STILLWATER, Okla.)The School of Hotel and Restaurant Administration at Oklahoma State University presented its 2009 Hall of Fame Award to current AH&LA Chairman of the Board Joe Martin and his wife and business partner Pam. The award recognizes their distinguished careers in the hospitality industry and their commitment to the students and faculty of OSU.

As the owners/operators of Stillwater Hospitality, LLC, the Martins have established themselves as leaders and visionaries in hospitality to the students and community in Stillwater.

Director of the school, Dr. Richard F. Ghiselli said, “The consummate service and professionalism they exhibit to our students and the industry as a whole make them exceptional industry allies for our department. This recognition is an outstanding way for us to recognize their contributions to hospitality educational excellence.”

The award was presented during the 2009 HRAD Hospitality Days Career Fair and Conference on Monday, February 16. Joe Martin has served on the AH&LA board in various positions for the past seven years and has been a member of the School of Hotel and Restaurant Administration’s Advisory Board at Oklahoma State for a number of years. The couple own and operate the Best Western Mark IV in Weatherford, Okla. and have been hoteliers in Stillwater since 2001.They are uniquely part of the Stillwater community as former students and current entrepreneurs.

“Joe and Pam are both alumni of Oklahoma State University which makes this recognition even more personal and rewarding for our program,” said Ghiselli.

The theme for Hospitality Days 2009 was “Serving the world for a greener tomorrow”. Programs and production elements focused on sustainability awareness and “practical” energy efficient practices for the hospitality industry. Student chairs of this year’s event were Nick Miller and Anna Boyles.
