Admission and Application Procedures


Students wishing admittance into a Great Plains IDEA program must apply to OSU Graduate College and submit materials to the Great Plains IDEA Coordinator. NOTE: A GRE is not required.

U.S. Residents: Materials to be submitted to OSU Graduate College, 202B Whitehurst, Stillwater, OK 74078:

  • O.S.U. Graduate School Application – you may do this on-line by visiting the following web site: http://gradcollege.okstate.edu/default.htm (please specify the online program).
  • Two sets of official transcripts from each of your university/college experiences. The transcripts must be sent directly from the institution.
  • Submit a $40 application fee.

Materials to be submitted to: Anne Mahoney, Great Plains IDEA Coordinator, 101 HES, Stillwater, OK 74078:

  • Resume
  • Professional goal statement
  • Three letters of reference

When all of your materials have been received, a graduate committee will review your request for admission to the on-line master’s program of your choice. You will be contacted in regards to the committee’s decision. An applicant will receive one of the following four decisions: 1) Admissible Without Qualification 2) Admissible on a Provisional Basis (PV) 3) Admissible on Strict Academic Probation (AE) and 4) Not Admissible because of space, grades, background, test score, other.

International Students: Materials to be submitted to OSU Graduate College, 202B Whitehurst, Stillwater, OK 74078:

  • O.S.U. Graduate School International Application – you may do this on-line by visiting the following web site: http://gradcollege.okstate.edu/admissions/international.htm
  • All transcripts or marksheets and diplomas/degree certificates (certified copies or originals). A degree comparable to a Baccalaureate degree from an American university is required with a cumulative grade point average equivalent to 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
  • Nonrefundable application fee:
    • US$75 for first application,
    • US$25 for each additional application.
  • All transcripts or marksheets and diplomas/degree certificates (certified copies or originals). A degree comparable to a Baccalaureate degree from an American university is required with a cumulative grade point average equivalent to 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. Transcripts and other documents submitted become the property of Oklahoma State University and are not returned to the applicant.

    Note to current or former students enrolled at OSU-Stillwater or OSU-Tulsa: You do not need to submit
    official OSU transcripts. One of the services our office provides to current or former OSU students enrolled at
    OSU-Stillwater or OSU-Tulsa is to obtain copies of OSU course work.

  • A TOEFL or IELTS score: A TOEFL score of 213 (computer based test) or 550 (paper based test) is required. The TOEFL institution code for OSU is 6546. Alternatively, an official IELTS, academic stream, examination with a minimum overall band score of 6.5 will satisfy the English proficiency requirements for admission to a graduate program. Either examination must
    have been taken within the last two years.
    If you have or will have completed a degree from an accredited school in the US, you do not have to submit a TOEFL or IELTS score.
    Some departments require a score above the minimum 213/550 on the TOEFL or 6.5 on the IELTS academic stream. Students should contact the department for specific TOEFL or IELTS requirements.
