Sue E. Williams, Ph.D. has been named department head of Human Development and Family Science in the College of Human Environmental Sciences.  Williams has served as professor in HDFS and a Cooperative Extension specialist with responsibilities for leadership development and family policy programs.

She has most recently worked on public policy development and public deliberation in the state of Oklahoma.  A CHES faculty member since 1977, she has managed over $1.75 million in research and program contracts. She has held leadership positions on the OSU campus as the Faculty Council Chair and Vice-Chair. Williams has served the American Association of Family and Consumer Sciences (AAFCS) as vice-president for planning and currently serves on the Business Plan Task Force.  She also is the Legislative Liaison and Foundation Chair for the Oklahoma Association of Family and Consumer Sciences (OAFCS) and a member of the Oklahoma Academy for State Goals.

Williams sits on editorial review boards for the Journal of Family and Consumer Sciences from Research to Practice and the Forum for Family and Consumer Issues and is an invited reviewer for the Journal of Higher Education Outreach and Engagement.  She has received the Leader Award from the AAFCS as well as the Lela O’Toole Research Award and the Professional Award from the OAFCS.  Williams holds a Ph.D. from Oklahoma State, a master’s from Iowa State University and a bachelor’s degree from New Mexico State University.
