Graduate Students in Human Environment Sciences (GSHES) supports graduate students in their professional and personal development through seminars, workshops, and various leadership and social events. All currently enrolled graduate students in CHES are members of GSHES.

The Graduate Students in Human Environmental Sciences (GSHES) organization encourages interdepartmental communication among graduate students in CHES and provides opportunities for graduate student input into CHES issues and departmental meetings.

Goals of GSHES: To enhance the graduate student experience in the College of Human Environmental Sciences. This will be accomplished by:

  • Providing opportunities for professional development activities geared to the needs of graduate students from all department of the college.
  • Providing opportunities for interdepartmental social interaction with other graduate students.
  • Helping graduate students find grant funding for their research.
  • Helping graduate students locate fellowships, scholarships, assistantships, and internships and other opportunities.

The officers and members promote increased awareness of graduate students and provide activities to facilitate the professional growth of graduate students. 

The officers of GSHES are: President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, and Activities Co-Chairpersons. To qualify for an officer position with GSHES, the candidate must be a CHES graduate student and able to serve the term of office for the following calendar year. The term runs from July 1 through June 30. Elections for officers of GSHES are conducted at the last meeting of the spring semester.
